When it comes to Mustang culture, everything is bigger in Texas—and Mustang Week Texas 2025 proved exactly that. Held this year in Galveston, the historic Gulf Coast city delivered a powerful blend of seaside charm, Ford-powered energy, and a warm welcome for Mustang fans from across the country.
For four days, Galveston, and the Houston area, became Mustang territory. The sound of roaring engines echoed along the seawall as generations of Mustangs cruised past historic landmarks and beachfront stretches. It wasn’t just a car show—it was a celebration of the Mustang lifestyle, set against palm trees and ocean breeze.
Being one of the founding Mustang Week Staff, I couldn’t pass up the chance to experience Mustang Week’s first trip to the Lone Star State. Mustang Week has been an integral part of my life since 2001. I’ve never missed one, so I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to see what the new owners had in store for their first event in Texas. They didn’t disappoint!
Galveston: The Perfect Backdrop
Galveston wasn’t just a location—it was a whole vibe. With its laid-back beach-town feel and miles of scenic shoreline, the city offered the perfect backdrop for Mustang Week’s blend of performance and personality.
Locals embraced the event, snapping photos and waving from balconies as Mustangs rumbled by in every color and generation imaginable. From sunrise detailing sessions to sunset events with the Gulf in the background, the setting gave the event a unique character no inland venue could match. The two track events gave the week the opportunity to be a true “drivers” event, giving the participants to drive their Mustangs the way Ford intended.
Events That Kept the Tach High The week’s schedule was a dream for enthusiasts of every kind. Road course, autocross, and drag racing events gave participants the option to really show what they, and their cars, could really do. The Meet-Up, KickOff Party, and Car Show showcased bone-stock classics to aggressive modern builds, it was a rolling museum of muscle and style. Thursday, April 24, 2025, Mustang Week Track Day, Motorsports Park Resort (MSR) Houston, Presented by TREMEC: Gave participants a chance to take on the 2.4-mile MSR road course, test their skills in autocross, or race on the karting track for fast-paced fun. I was traveling from South Carolina to Texas on Thursday and missed this one. I will definitely have my GT350 at the next Mustang Week Texas for this event.
Thursday evening, April 24, 2025, Mustang Week Texas Kickoff Party, The Spot Galveston, Presented by Auto Addicts: This was a very cool location. The Spot restaurant sits right on Seawall Blvd, just across the street from the Gulf. As the sun set, Mustangs showed up in force. The vibe was very reminiscent of evening events at Myrtle Beach, SC. This was also the first chance at grabbing the highly sought-after yearly Mustang Week Texas event t-shirt!
Friday, April 25, 2025, All-Ford Drag Day, Houston Motorsports Park (HMP), presented by HP Tuners: This was an action-packed day at HMP, about an hour’s drive from Galveston. Participants got a chance to take their Mustangs out on the HMP oval race track for Fun Runs, similar to those in previous years at Myrtle Beach Speedway. But the IHRA-sanctioned 1/8-mile dragstrip was all the rage! There were open Test-n-Tunes runs, a True Street Class competition, grudge racing, and a free drag racing clinic with Street Outlaws star, and Texan, Mike Murillo. Vaughn Gitten, Jr. and Ben Hobson, from RTR, as well as other local Mustang drift racers, were on hand to roast tires on the oval track. This is always a fan favorite.
Friday evening, April 25, 2025, Mustang Week Friday Night Meet-Up, Moody Gardens (Galveston, Tx), presented by CJ Pony Parts: This was the chance to kick back with fellow Mustang enthusiasts while enjoying music, food trucks, and games—all in celebration of this incredible inaugural event! There was drifting by RTR, Morgan Drifts, and other local drift racers. The fun ran well into the evening. and things got really rowdy when Vaughn Gittin, Jr., broke out the RTR monster truck and crushed some cars!
Friday, April 26, 2025, Official Mustang Week Texas Car Show, Moody Gardens, presented by LMR: This was the big one! The event featured just approximately 1,500 of the best Mustangs the country has to offer. And Texas showed up in force. I’ve never seen this many Texas-based Mustangs in one place in 30+ years in the industry. There was a main stage DJ, with special celebrity guest speakers, VMP’s dyno challenge, Mustang Week merch, sponsors and vendor setups, and of course, the show cars. There was everything from concours classic Mustangs to wild, ultra-modded late models. If all this wasn’t enough, Ford was on hand with their “Mustang Unleashed” ride-along experience, in either a brand new Dark Horse, or Mustang GT. The line for this was long all day. And, if you knew who you were looking for, the Ford Mustang Brand Manager, Joseph Bellino, was on hand to talk personally to enthusiast about out most-favorite pony cars!
Saturday evening. April 26, 2025, Mustang Week Mayhem, Moody Gardens: Billed as the most thrilling night of Mustang Week, Friday night included drifting exhibitions, burnouts, and things got really rowdy when Vaughn Gittin, Jr., broke out the RTR monster truck and crushed some cars! There was even and Mustang Glow/Light Show.
Sunday, April 27, 2025, Mustang Week Texas Cruise-In, Awards Show, and Burnout Contest, presented by LMR: Sunday brough the week to an end with a bang! The all Ford-bodied and Ford-powered Cruise-In didn’t disappoint. The Mustang Week Smoke Show was the ultimate burnout contest, giving contestants a change to “burn” a little aggression in a safe format. The day ended with the Awards Show, giving the most deserving show car owners their well-deserved recognition
Mustang Week Texas Final Thoughts:
But what truly defined Mustang Week Texas wasn’t just the events or the location (although the location was fantastic)—it was the people. The sense of community was front and center. Whether you were a Foxbody die-hard, a classic Mustang owner, or someone proudly rolling in a base model V6, you belonged.
There was pride, but no ego. Respect came standard. Enthusiast, participants, sponsors, and vendors traded ideas, newcomers asked questions, and everyone had a story. Mustang Week Texas, in Galveston, felt like a family reunion, much like its Mustang Week Myrtle Beach older brother.
Looking Ahead
It was very evident that Galveston, and Texas, had made its mark on Mustang Week. The coastal energy, welcoming crowd, and awesome weather, turned an already iconic event into something fresh and unforgettable.
For those who were there, it’s already a highlight in the memory bank. And for those who missed it, don’t worry. We’re hoping the new Mustang Week owners will be returning to Texas in spring of 2026!
