MEXICAN MACH 1

Ford releases the Mustang Mach 1 south of the border

While much of the news under the Blue Oval umbrellas these days is about electrification, there are still parts of the world that don’t have access to all the wonderful internal-combustion Mustangs that we enjoy here in the states. A case in point is Mexico, which went without Mach 1 for 17 years. In mid-March, the company released the 2022 Mustang Mach 1 there.

“At Ford we know that the Mustang family and its legacy have marked a before and after in the industry, with its performance and unique design, therefore, with Mustang Mach 1 2022 we had to find a way to deliver the emotion of the track that those who are passionate about speed demand and we are sure that the special edition Fighter Jet, without a doubt, will do it”, said Lucien Pinto, Director of Marketing and Sales of Ford of Mexico.

While stateside the Mach 1 is available in several colors and configurations, this limited run of Mexican Mach 1s is only available with the Fighter Jet Edition premium appearance package and a manual transmission. Its engine still delivers the same 470 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque as its current US cousins, so it will be a blast to drive.

While the size of its production run wasn’t specified, it’s safe to say that this version of the Mach 1 will be rare and could become quite collectible in theyears to come.
