FOXTOBER FEST

A Celebration of the Foxbody Legacy

There’s a certain sound that lets you know you’re in the right place — the unmistakable rumble of a 5.0, the lope of a B-cam, and the echo of exhaust through Charlotte Motor Speedway as the sun rises over Foxtober Fest. Rows of Foxbody Mustangs, Capris, Fairmonts, and even LTDs line up like a time capsule from the 1980s and ’90s. It’s more than a car show — it’s a reunion of people who never let go of the cars that defined an era.

For me, Foxtober Fest has to be one of the coolest automotive events you can attend. After selling my 1980 Cobra to pursue my dream car — a 1995 Cobra R — I found myself missing the Foxbody platform way too much during the 2024 event. That mix of nostalgia and not being able to truly enjoy the ’95 R led me to sell it and pick up a minty 1985 LX. With that, I was officially back in the Foxbody world and ready for all the fun and fellowship this year.

This year’s event was extra special. My car, along with Brian Broome’s silver 1986 GT and Stuart Earp’s Aero GT, was selected to be displayed in the Late Model Restoration booth — an honor for any Foxbody enthusiast.

What makes Foxtober Fest unique is that it celebrates every vehicle built on the Foxbody platform, not just the Mustangs. You’ll see some of the top cars in the country gathered in one place — builds that push craftsmanship, creativity, and nostalgia to new levels. A walk around the 5.0 Asylum group alone shows exactly what I mean: flawless paint, period-correct details, and some of the cleanest engine bays you’ll ever see.

Adding to the excitement, some of the top YouTubers in the Mustang community are always on hand, giving fans a chance to connect with the faces they follow online. Also in attendance are the King and Queen of Retro, Harris Lue and Emily Lue, who host the hugely popular Retro Meet during Mustang Week. Their passion for vintage style and Foxbody culture fits right in and adds another layer of authenticity to the event.

But that’s the beauty of Foxtober Fest — there’s something for everyone. From project cars to 600-mile originals, daily drivers, fully restored examples, and wild custom builds, this show is a treat for any Gen X gearhead like myself.

Walking around the midway, you’ll find everything from restoration parts to the latest aftermarket products — which is pretty incredible for a vehicle platform that’s four decades old. It’s proof that the passion for these cars hasn’t faded a bit.

Foxtober Fest is the vision of Jenn and her team, who host several events throughout the year dedicated to keeping the Foxbody spirit alive. You can read more about their story here:

For anyone who grew up dreaming of owning a Foxbody — or for those who still do — Foxtober Fest isn’t just a car show. It’s a reminder of why we fell in love with these cars in the first place: the sound, the style, and the sense of community that never seems to fade.
