There’s something unmistakably genuine about a gathering built on passion—and that spirit was alive and well at this year’s Southwest Virginia BroncoFest in Wytheville, Virginia. From the moment I arrived at the Hitachi Energy Arena, I could feel it: the energy of a true community. This wasn’t just a car show—it was a celebration. Families strolled the grounds, dogs lounged in the shade, and clusters of chairs turned into conversation circles. It felt less like an event and more like a reunion.
Now in its fourth year, BroncoFest has grown from a dealership’s vision into one of the most welcoming and enthusiast-driven gatherings in the region. Organized by Aschenbach Ford of Wytheville, the idea sparked in 2021 as a response to the buzz around the return of the Ford Bronco. But rather than focusing solely on the latest models, the event honors all generations of Broncos—from 1966 to present day.
The Show ’n Shine competition offered categories for Early Bronco (1966–77), Mid-Size (including Bronco II and Bronco Sport), Full Size (1978–96), and the modern 2021–present Broncos. Additional awards included Best Modified and the coveted Best in Show, which was selected by popular vote. Judging was done through a comprehensive scoring system evaluating paint, interior, engine bay, wheels, and overall modifications.
This year’s event drew 78 Broncos and a steady stream of spectators, with estimates putting the crowd around 350 attendees. Admission was free for spectators, adding to the laid-back and inclusive vibe. It was clear that this event wasn’t just about the vehicles—it was about the people and the experience.
Among the standout additions this year was the BroncoFest Jam, which encouraged musically inclined guests to bring their instruments and join in a live, informal jam session on the grounds. A caricature artist also circulated, sketching attendees and offering branded keepsakes featuring the BroncoFest logo. These kinds of thoughtful, personal touches are what set this event apart.
Behind the scenes, Deb King has been the driving force behind BroncoFest since its inception. As event coordinator, she handles everything from web and social media presence to on-site logistics, photography, and design. She’s assisted closely by her mother, Dixie Goodman, as well as staff members from Aschenbach Ford and the team at Hitachi Energy Arena. Corporate ownership and leadership support the event each year, with Ken Kraft, Corporate Director of Leadership Development assisting with the 2025 event.
“The vibe is personal and custom—very friendly,” King explained. “We greet every Bronco owner as they arrive and send them off the same way. It’s part show, part cruise-in, part BroncoFest family reunion.”
BroncoFest 2026 is already confirmed for May 22–23, and the team has no plans to change venues. Instead, they’re focused on growing the experience, potentially adding obstacle courses, mud bogs, off-road rides, evening concerts, and even an on-site detailing crew to help owners prep their rigs for show.
BroncoFest is just one of the many community-minded initiatives by the Aschenbach Auto Group, which includes dealerships across Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In addition to BroncoFest, the Wytheville dealership group hosts monthly cruise-ins, sponsors local festivals like FloydFest, and maintains an active presence at community events and school functions.
For those who haven’t experienced BroncoFest, the invitation is open—whether your Bronco is stock or modified, a garage queen or trail warrior, this event is for you.

“We love the Bronco community,” King added. “What great people we have joining us each year—it really is their event. We invite anyone with a Bronco to come experience the spirit, friendship, and fun of Southwest Virginia BroncoFest. We think you’ll love it—and we’ll work hard to make sure you do.”
